Introduction

Objectives

To enrich the undergraduates with sound knowledge of various Ayurvedic principles regarding every aspects of sumstances including their rational therapeutic use.
To explain the practical application and utility of Ayurvedic principles.
To encourage the organoleptic, morphological, histological, physical, phyto - chemical and other higher technique based study of plants - 
based medicines.
To explain the criteria of choosing the most appropriate drugs for a particular disease in clinical practice.
To explore the multidimensional potential of a single drug.
Proper co__relation of ancient wisdom with the modern science.
single drug Compilation based on information as accumulated and developed in chronological order i.e 
from vedic are to the present day.
Promote `One disease - One drug' concept through different preparations. So as to expand our existing understanding fo the drug use.
Rearrangement and further inclusion of various medicinal plants specimens accrding to `50 MAHA KASAYAS' of Caraka samhita so as to 
highlight our Ayurvedic (Application vased) purpose of drug classification rather than the Botanical (Family Based) one.
To create `Panchabhautic' concept based planting or ground preparation for every plant growing in the garden.
Classroom teaching including efforts to get the feedbackfrom students regarding their understanding, illusion, misconcepts
or queries about subject.
To encourage the students the present weekly / monthly oral seminars on various topics to boost their confidence and professional
attitude in career.
To train the students medicinal plant identification separate local field surveys are conducted as well they visit different Institutions / Botanical
/ Medicinal plants garden of various parts of India periodically.
Dept. of Dravyaguna vidnyan comprise of 550 nos. of compilation (monographs) on medicinal plants.
Departmental museum is having approximate 600 dry drugs and 450 nos. wet drug samples Laminated charts for demonstration 130 nos. and 50 medicinal plants
photographs about 300 nos.
There are two medicinal plant gardens, one is attached to college premises and other is being developed (07 acres area) by the department
These comprises of 400 species of medicinal plants.Nearly 1500 medicinal plants are present in both gardens.
To develop public awareness towords medicinal plants its use, cultivation etc. exhibitions are conducted and guests lectures given periodically. Apart from
this consultation andsuggestions regarding cultivation, Marketing of medicinal plants given to the needy.
Some project work of different colleges regarding medicinal plants also done.
